Petrified Forest

The number of petrified trees is unbelievable! The ground in some places was completely covered with logs and chips. The wood has bright colors in the grain, sometimes iridescent, which don't really come through the photos. We did several hikes here, ranging from very short ones to a couple of miles.

Some of the logs were HUGE. This one paced off to be about 115 feet long, and one end was buried.

A collared lizard was kind enough to pose on petrified log.
